Internists, P.C. is an independent multi-specialty medical practice in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our mission is to provide superior quality medical services for the community of Linn County and an expanded referral area. We believe in maintaining service excellence and pursuing quality improvement based on continuing education and internal peer review. The physicians of Internists, P.C. are a diverse, collegial group who believe in democratic governance of our practice. Internists, P.C. was established over 30 years ago and is located near Mercy and St. Lukes Hospitals. The practice began as a general Internal Medicine practice and now consists of physicians in the following specialties: General Internal Medicine , Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease and Psychiatry.
Internists, P.C. has an in-house laboratory, an Endoscopy suite, and utilizes an electronic medical record system.

The Eastern Iowa Airport is home to nine commercial airlines, nine air cargo carriers, and the city is served by an excellent bus service as well.
Business and trade flourish in Cedar Rapids, thanks to varied economic base, which ranges from grain milling to space-age electronics. Among its 275 business and manufacturing concerns are approximately 20 Fortune 500 companies, many with strong international ties. The major employers include Rockwell Avionics & Communications, which produces high-technology communications and navigation products; Houghton Mifflin, a software developer; and agribusiness and food processing companies such as Quaker Oats and General Mills.
Neighborhoods in Cedar Rapids are easy to move around in, close to shopping and recreational activities, and safe - in fact, among cities this size, Cedar Rapids has one of the lowest crime rates in the country. Housing is affordable and 70 percent of the communitys homes are owner occupied. The community believes strongly in providing quality education for its children. Ten of the public schools have been selected as exemplary by the U.S. Department of Education and Cedar Rapids students consistently rank well above the national average on standardized achievement tests and college entrance exams. The community includes 22 elementary schools, five middle schools and five high schools; the public school system is complemented by the areas parochial and private schools.
The Cedar Rapids area is also home to a number of outstanding institutions of higher learning. The University of Iowa, 25 miles south, is a major public research university with 18,000 undergraduates and 9,000 graduate students in 10 colleges, including the nationally recognized medical, dental, nursing and pharmacy colleges. Also in the area are Cornell College, Coe College, and Mount Mercy College, all four-year, liberal arts schools; Kaplan University, the oldest business college in Iowa; and Kirkwood Community College, which emphasizes applied science and technology.
Recreation and leisure are also important in Cedar Rapids. The Parks and Recreation Department manages 78 developed parks spread over 4,200 acres. In addition, the city maintains eight outdoor ice rinks, one indoor facility, four public golf courses, four cross-country ski trails, a toboggan run, six municipal swimming pools, 22 public tennis courts and over 42 baseball, softball and soccer fields. Within a short drive are a variety of recreation sites, including the Coralville Reservoir, for boating, sailing, fishing and hunting; the Indian Creek Nature Center, a refuge for wildlife and plants; and three state parks. New to the community is an indoor ice arena for public skating and professional hockey. Cedar Rapids has a professional hockey team playing at this new indoor ice arena.
Cedar Rapids rich and diverse cultural opportunities include the nationally acclaimed Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, which houses the worlds largest and finest permanent collections of works by Grant Wood and Marvin Cone. Other attractions include the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library; the Science Station, whose hands-on experiments are housed in an attractive, restored fire station; and Brucemore, a magnificent Queen Anne-style mansion that serves as a community cultural center. Nineteen miles south of Cedar Rapids are the Amana Colonies, seven 19th century German villages with Registered National Landmark status.
Theater is alive in the Cedar Rapids area, in particular at Theatre Cedar Rapids, one of the region's finest stage production companies and Hancher Auditorium at the nearby University of Iowa, which hosts national touring companies. Also popular are the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra and the US Cellular Center, which hosts top rock and country performances, as well as family events such as rodeos, ice shows and circuses.
Dining and nightlife opportunities in the area include over 230 restaurants, 23 movie screens and night clubs and casinos, including seven river boat casinos on the Mississippi River, a 90-minute drive away. Shopping can be enjoyed at two major shopping malls, as well as in specialty stores, antique shops and open-air markets.
